AudioPro
Auto-detect beats in any audio layer and drop comp markers at each one. Use the markers to cut, animate, or trigger effects to the music in a fraction of the time manual tap-tempo takes.
Detect beats
- Drag an audio file into your comp (or use one already on the timeline).
- Switch to the Audio tab.
- Set Threshold (energy required for a sample to count as a beat) and Min Spacing (the smallest allowed gap between beats, in seconds).
- Click Detect Beats. Comp markers labeled "Beat" appear on your timeline at every detected peak.
Tuning threshold and spacing
Threshold trades sensitivity for noise. Lower values catch quiet beats but pick up false positives; higher values only catch the loudest hits.
Min Spacing prevents double-detection of the same hit. For most music, 0.15–0.25s is a safe default; faster songs may need 0.08s, ambient material 0.5s+.
Manage markers
The marker count is shown in the status line after detection. To remove every "Beat" marker, click Clear Beat Markers — leaves other markers (manually added or from other sources) untouched.
Sounds library
The Sounds sub-tab inside Library houses a curated audio library — risers, impacts, transitions, whooshes — that pairs well with beat-driven editing. Drop sounds at the playhead.
Cut to the beat
Beat markers + the Curves tab + Speed controls compose a fast beat-cutting workflow. See Cut to the Beat for the full recipe.
